Scattered showers and thunderstorms become more widespread Thursday and Friday, especially in the southeast half. Overall, 5 day rainfall will be in the .25-1.00 inch range across the Cornbelt, but a few locations could receive more. There will be opportunity for fieldwork in the southern Midwest the next few days as this area prepares for crop planting, but fieldwork faces delays later this week. The far northwest section will have some light snow on Wednesday. The wettest area of the Midwest during the 6-10 day outlook will be in the east half with above normal rainfall. The west half of the region looks drier at this time with near to below normal precipitation. Near to above normal rainfall for the 11-15 day outlook. The southwest portion of the Cornbelt will get crop planting under way the next few weeks, but areas in vicinity of the Ohio River will see early crop planting get off to a slow start.
